By downloading, installing, or using Triton Backup you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the software.
Triton Backup ("Triton", "the software") is a desktop backup application for Windows that provides a graphical interface to the open-source Restic backup engine. Triton is developed and distributed by the Triton Backup project ("we", "us").
Upon purchasing a license you receive a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Triton on the number of machines permitted by your plan:
A machine is defined as one physical or virtual Windows installation.
Your license is perpetual — the version of Triton you purchase will continue to work indefinitely.
Your license includes updates, improvements, and bug fixes for Triton at no additional cost. Any future standalone services, cloud features, or separate products may be offered under separate terms and pricing.
You may not sublicense, sell, resell, or redistribute the software or your license key.
Triton offers a 14-day free trial with no payment information required. The trial is limited to one trial per machine. At the end of the trial period, a 7-day grace period begins during which scheduled backups continue to run, giving you time to purchase a license. After the grace period, scheduled backups will stop working. You may purchase a license at any time to continue using all features. We reserve the right to prevent abuse of the trial program.
Payments are processed by Paddle, our authorized reseller. Your purchase is subject to Paddle's terms in addition to these. Taxes (including VAT where applicable) are handled by Paddle according to your jurisdiction.
We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee. If you are not satisfied, contact us at support@tritonbackup.io within 14 days of purchase and we will issue a full refund, no questions asked. After 14 days, sales are final.
Triton stores your backup data in repositories you control, using encryption keys you set. We have no access to your backup data or your encryption password. Your password cannot be recovered — if you lose it, your backups cannot be decrypted.
⚠ Important: You are solely responsible for verifying that your backups complete successfully and that your data can be restored. Triton is a tool that facilitates backups — it does not guarantee that your data will be recoverable in all circumstances. Always test your restore process.
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT DATA LOSS WILL NOT OCCUR.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF TRITON, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR YOUR LICENSE IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
You agree not to:
We may release updates to fix bugs or add features. Updates are delivered automatically within the maintenance period. We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will apply only after they are published. Continued use of the software after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
We may terminate your license if you breach these terms (e.g., sharing your license key, initiating a fraudulent chargeback). Upon termination you must stop using the software.
Triton bundles and uses open-source components, including Restic. Your use of these components is also subject to their respective licenses, which are listed in the Open Source Notices tab.
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, internet outages, or third-party service disruptions.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Greece, without regard to conflict of law principles. Mandatory consumer protection laws applicable in your country of residence remain unaffected. Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of Greece.
